Pre-Master Experience
Donna has always been concerned about children’s issues. Prior to becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist, Donna was a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL). Donna assisted the courts by representing what was in the best interest of the children who were removed from their families due to neglect, abuse, or domestic violence. Donna also has ten years experience teaching Pre-K through third grade.

Experience as a Counselor
Donna began her counseling career by facilitating sand tray groups in a variety of school settings for a two-year period. During Donna’s practicum experience, she introduced sand tray to a domestic violence shelter and outreach center. After receiving her Master’s Degree in mental health, she continued her work at the domestic violence agency for four years. Donna facilitated group, individual, and family counseling sessions to victims of domestic violence utilizing play therapy, behavior modification, cognitive behavioral therapy, anger management, and mentoring in a therapeutic setting. She conducted child intakes, facilitated parenting groups, and provided community referrals. She has worked with children who come in with various problems such as: the effects of traumas of emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse, Encopresis (withholding stool), loss of a parent, (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, separation anxiety or extreme fears; acting out behaviors such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, separation and divorce issues and more. Donna became the Children’s Supervisor at the domestic violence agency in which she supervised child advocates and master level mental health interns in counseling children, play therapy, and assessing family needs. Donna co-facilitated group supervision and provided training workshops for employees. Her passion for working with children and families has led her to private practice.

Donna has written a children's book titled:
